Abstract
Artificial
intelligence, AI, is a machine’s ability to think and act in a way that is
similar to humans. AI can perform tasks
just like humans except without emotions and consciousness. It can create music,
write poetry, or generate art by combining hundreds of different pictures by
following a prompt. As technology evolves so does AI. Now AI can write stories
with just a few words for the prompt. This can help communication professionals
who lack the time or skill to write proficiently.

Anderson, J. (2018, December 10). Artificial
Intelligence and the future of humans. Pew Research Center: Internet,
Science & Tech. https://www.pewresearch.org/internet/2018/12/10/artificial-intelligence-and-the-future-of-humans/
This article explains how experts say the
rise of artificial intelligence will make most people better off over the next
decade, but many people have concerns about how advances in AI will affect what
it means to be human, to be productive and to exercise free will.
The Pew Center originated from a research
project in 1990 and was established in 2004. It is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the
public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world. They conduct
public opinion polling, demographic research, content analysis and other
data-driven social science research. They do not take policy positions. This article is from 2018 so it is a current
source.
This article can be used as a point of reference for
gathering topical information about artificial intelligence and what experts
think may come of it in the future. This article has relevant information that
will be very useful in Pew Research is a reliable source and is trustworthy.

communications industry. Forbes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbescommunicationscouncil/2023/03/09/how-artificial-intelligence-could-reinvent-the-communications-industry/?sh=1ed859feb7d4
This article is about what happens with the continuous
improvement of artificial intelligence (AI), expert research shows that AI has
the power to double yearly economic growth rates by 2035 and completely
revolutionize how humans work, create, and communicate. However, the advent of AI engines like DALL·E
2, Midjourney and Point-E have left many creators worried that AI will leave
humans with no creative outlet. The good news is that this is not the case. With
AI in the communications industry one can spend less time crafting text and
more time focused on connecting with clients, researching features or working
on new creative endeavors. This article is from 2023 and is a current source.

help). Entrepreneur. https://www.entrepreneur.com/growing-a-business/how-to-improve-workplace-communication-and-how-ai-can-help/453017
This article is about how in recent
years, the use of AI has been a hot digital transformation trend among
businesses. The good news is that artificial intelligence can serve as an
effective solution to improving workplace communication. The article goes on to
talk about AI taking notes during meetings and how virtual assistants can be
extremely helpful in the workplace for routine HR tasks. Apart from streamlining workplace
communication, AI applications can help businesses conduct market research,
handle clients, reply to emails, set meetings and more. With AI at our
fingertips, transparent and effective communication between departments can be
accelerated above and beyond what we already know. This article was written in
2023 and is a current source.

supporters highlight concerns around AI and elections. AP News.
https://apnews.com/article/deepfake-trump-ai-biden-tiktok-72194f59823037391b3888a1720ba7c2
This article talks about the downside
of artificial intelligence and how it can be harmful. This article shows photos
of Donald Trump with black people smiling and laughing which could help him in
the next presidential election. With further examination, it is clearly a
fabricated photo but the average person may not notice that. It states that AI-generated images will
increase the closer we get to the presidential election in hopes of skewing the
votes one way or the other. Further on in
the article, it states that In January, voters in New Hampshire received a robocall that
mimicked Biden’s voice telling them, falsely, that if they cast a ballot in
that state’s primary they would be ineligible to vote in the general election.
A political consultant later acknowledged creating the robocall, which may be the first known attempt to use AI to interfere
with a U.S. election. This
article is from 2024 and is a current source.
Matt Brown is a reporter covering
national politics, race, and democracy issues. David Klepper has been a
reporter with the Associated Press for the past ten years and was a New York
Capital Correspondent before that.
This article will help show that AI can
be harmful to society with its misinformation.

conscious or not. Scientific American.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/heres-why-ai-may-be-extremely-dangerous-whether-its-conscious-or-not/
This article describes that artificial
intelligence algorithms will soon reach a point of rapid self-improvement that
threatens our ability to control them and poses a great potential risk to
humanity. Just like in the movies, they fear that AI is growing too fast and it
may be something that will be hard to control the more it develops. It may
create artificial general intelligence which will not need human intervention
to improve itself. This article was written in 2024 and is a current source.

that will be very good in the argument against using AI in the future. It says
we should not open Pandora’s box any further than it has already been opened.

psychology. Psychology Today.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-media-psychology-effect/202303/when-ai-communication-exceeds-the-limits-of-human
This article is about how it may
be difficult to tell whether you are talking to a person or a chatbot when you
answer your phone. As technology
improves, organizations are reducing or eliminating access to human
respondents, replacing them with AI only. Google, Microsoft, and Apple are some
of the many companies now actively investing to advance artificial and
augmented human language communication capabilities. The downside to such advances showcases the
dehumanization of human communication—in many cases, only increasing the
difficulty in following instructions that would benefit from direct human
communication. This article was written in 2023 and is a current source.

careers in commerce, education, entertainment, and psychology. He
is a licensed psychotherapist, with degrees in business and a UCLA doctorate in
education, psychology, and technology.
This article will help with understanding that we must accentuate the positives and eliminate the
negatives in our increasing and changing relationship with technology.
